Crux Climbing Center is bringing tall walls and a big facility, perhaps even the biggest climbing gym in Texas, to Round Rock. Slated to open late 2021, Crux’s climbing gym will sit on five acres of land at 1989 Steam Way in Round Rock, about 20 minutes north of Austin’s city limits.
The facility will be 55,000 square feet in size with 60-70 foot tall climbing walls. “Perfect for some epic lead climbing and top roping,” the Crux website boasts. They also hope to build additional retail space near the Round Rock facility to support local businesses.
The new facility will include the same features and amenities members enjoy at Crux’s flagship Austin location, including rope climbing, bouldering, strength training, fitness and yoga classes, locker rooms, a kids’ area, and a co-working space. The center will also host member appreciation events, industry nights, summer camps, and competitions.
