A new Playa Bowls shop has opened in the Wolf Ranch Shopping Center, bringing the national superfruit chain’s acai bowls, smoothies, and cold brew coffee to Georgetown. Local owners Nikita and Chirag Mehta say the shop reflects their commitment to wellness and community health.
Located at 1013 W. University Ave., Suite 175, the store serves Playa Bowls’ signature blends of antioxidant-rich acai, mango, coconut, kale, banana, and oatmeal. The bowls are topped with fruits, granola, seeds, and nut butters, and can be customized to accommodate vegan, gluten-free, Whole30, Keto, and Paleo diets.
Nikita Mehta, a registered nurse with 15 years of experience in neonatal care and community health, said she was motivated to bring healthier options to a town saturated with fast food.
“As a nurse, helping people has always been at the heart of what I do,” she said. “Playa Bowls gives us a way to continue that mission by serving fresh, nutritious options in a fun and welcoming space.”
The couple was introduced to the Playa Bowls brand through Nikita’s brother, a former nurse who opened the first Texas location in San Antonio. The Mehtas plan to expand the brand further in the Greater Austin area, with two more locations in the works.
The Georgetown shop is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
