The Georgetown Police Department is inviting residents to meet local officers over cookies during a community event later this month.
The department will host “Cookie with a Cop” from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at Walmart in Georgetown.
Police described the event as an opportunity for community members to connect with officers in an informal setting while enjoying cookies.
“We’d love for you to join us,” the department said in announcing the event on social media.
The gathering is part of the department’s community outreach efforts and follows a format similar to “Coffee with a Cop” events held by law enforcement agencies around the country, which are intended to give residents an opportunity to speak directly with officers outside of calls for service or other official encounters.
The event is open to the public.
