Urban Bird Hot Chicken is planning a new restaurant in Cedar Park, bringing its growing Texas-based chicken concept to the Village at Cedar Park shopping center.
The restaurant will occupy a former ice cream shop at 700 E. Whitestone Blvd., Suite 100, according to a state filing.
Renovations are expected to begin Oct. 15 and be completed by March 1, 2027. An opening date has not been announced.
Urban Bird was founded by Brandon Gawthorp and Chantel Fiaschetti, experienced restaurant operators who previously built a portfolio of Wingstop franchises.
The couple opened the first Urban Bird location in September 2020 after experimenting with approximately 60 recipes to develop their signature chicken.
The chain specializes in hot chicken tenders, sandwiches and chicken and waffles, with several spice levels available.
Urban Bird has expanded to more than 20 locations across Texas and recently began offering franchise opportunities.
The Cedar Park restaurant would join an existing location in nearby Round Rock, which the company identified as its highest-performing restaurant. The Round Rock location generated approximately $3.8 million in gross sales in 2025, according to the company.
