The Georgetown Fire Department has welcomed a hometown native to its ranks after he recently completed training as an emergency medical technician and paramedic.
Zachary Young, who was born and raised in Georgetown, recently joined the department after completing EMT and paramedic school and earning his certifications, according to the city.
Young moved closer to Austin after growing up in Georgetown but is returning to his hometown to begin his career in emergency services. The department said Young plans to continue building his knowledge and experience as he begins serving the community where he grew up.
Outside of work, Young enjoys video games, including “Baldur’s Gate 3,” and collects dystopian books and other media.
He also has two cats with unusual stories of their own — a three-legged snow Bengal and a tailless Siamese mix.
The Georgetown Fire Department announced Young’s hiring on social media, saying it was proud to welcome another Georgetown native to the department.
