Juanes Mexican Restaurant, Tortilleria and Bar is planned for the Shops at University Heights, with a $300,000 interior build-out outlined in a state project filing.
The restaurant will occupy a 3,601-square-foot space at 4450 University Blvd., Suite 130, according to information filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Hunington Properties also announced that Juanes Mexican Restaurant has signed a lease at the shopping center.
The state filing lists Oct. 14 as the anticipated construction start date and Dec. 31 as the estimated completion date. Those dates describe the construction schedule and do not establish when the restaurant will open.
The project involves finishing out an existing building shell for the restaurant. It is classified as a renovation or alteration and is privately funded.
The project is registered under the name “Juanes Mexican Restaurant, Tortilleria and Bar,” indicating plans for a Mexican restaurant with a tortilla-making operation and bar. The filing does not provide a menu, operating hours or details about tortilla sales.
An opening date is not included in the project information.
