Rooms To Go plans $5.8 million furniture store in Leander

Rooms To Go, the furniture retailer known for selling coordinated room packages, plans to build a nearly 50,000-square-foot showroom along the 183A Toll Road frontage road in Leander.

The proposed store at 10021 183A Toll Frontage Road represents an estimated $5.8 million construction project, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2027 and finish by the end of that year.

Founded by Jeffrey and Morty Seaman in 1990, Rooms To Go opened its first showroom in 1991. The privately held company is headquartered in Seffner, Florida, and operates more than 150 showrooms across 10 states in the Southeast and Texas, according to its website.

The retailer built its business around coordinated furniture packages, allowing customers to purchase pieces selected to work together in a living room, bedroom or dining room. Shoppers can also buy individual items.

Its selection includes sofas, sectionals, recliners, beds, dining tables, mattresses and home accessories. The company also sells children’s furniture and outdoor furniture through its Rooms To Go Kids and Rooms To Go Patio divisions.

Featured collections include Cindy Crawford Home, Drew & Jonathan and Shaquille O’Neal Home, along with La-Z-Boy recliners and Disney-themed children’s furniture.

The Leander filing calls for a 49,182-square-foot showroom.
