Sweet Retreat TX Ice Cream in Liberty Hill is preparing to close its doors Saturday, Oct. 31, prompting a neighboring frozen dessert business to encourage residents to support the shop during its final week.
The Yogurt Experience, another locally owned frozen treat business, shared a heartfelt message on social media expressing sadness over the closure and urging customers to visit Sweet Retreat before it shuts down.
“When one small business closes, our entire community feels it,” The Yogurt Experience wrote.
The business acknowledged that the two establishments could be considered competitors but emphasized that supporting fellow small-business owners is more important than competition.
“Because at the end of the day, we’re not just competitors. We’re neighbors, fellow dreamers, and small business owners who understand what it takes to keep the doors open,” the post stated.
The Yogurt Experience also highlighted the challenges of operating an independent retail business, including the personal sacrifices and long hours that often go unnoticed by customers.
“Behind every small business is a dream. A family. A story. And an incredible amount of hard work that most people never see,” the owners wrote.
Rather than simply announcing the closure, The Yogurt Experience encouraged Liberty Hill residents to give Sweet Retreat a strong final week of business.
“Let’s send Sweet Retreat off with an incredible final week of sales!” the business wrote.
The owners asked residents to stop by for ice cream, bring their families, tell friends and show appreciation for the shop’s contributions to the community.
The message also reflected the close relationships among small-business owners in Liberty Hill, a growing Williamson County community where locally owned restaurants and shops compete alongside expanding commercial development.
“Sometimes that means showing up for the business right down the road that sells the same thing you do,” The Yogurt Experience wrote.
The reason for Sweet Retreat’s closure was not disclosed in the shared announcement.
Sweet Retreat’s final day of operation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Yogurt Experience concluded its message by thanking the Sweet Retreat family for the memories and contributions it has made to Liberty Hill.
“We know how much heart it takes to do what you do, and we’re cheering you on in whatever comes next,” the business wrote.
