A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday after two people were shot at a residence in Jarrell, leading to a law enforcement pursuit and arrest outside Victoria, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Williamson County Emergency Communications received a 911 call at about 1 p.m. May 23 reporting a shooting in the 100 block of Allington Circle in Jarrell, authorities said.
Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Jarrell Police Department responded to the scene and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to an area hospital, where investigators said they provided witness statements identifying the suspect as 21-year-old Joshua Garcia.
Jarrell police requested that the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office serve as the lead investigative agency in the case.
Authorities later located Garcia, who was taken into custody following a pursuit involving troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety outside Victoria. He was booked into the Victoria County Jail.
Garcia has been charged with aggravated assault against a family member with a deadly weapon and is expected to be transferred to Williamson County Jail at a later date, authorities said.
Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident involving members of the residence and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
