A Williamson County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Oct. 21 in connection with an alleged family violence assault that occurred while he was off duty, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives arrested Phillip Anelli, 47, who was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The agency did not release details about the alleged assault.
The sheriff’s office described Anelli as a patrol deputy who had served with the agency for six years. His LinkedIn profile lists his assignment as Special Operations, a position he reported holding since January 2021 after joining the agency’s Patrol Division in June 2020.
Anelli describes himself on the profile as a master peace officer with experience in tactical emergency response, criminal investigations, hostage negotiations, emergency management and incident command.
His listed employment history includes serving as a Brazos County sheriff’s deputy from September 2011 to September 2017 and as a senior police officer with the Killeen Independent School District Police Department from January 2005 to September 2011. He also lists work as a BNSF Railway senior conductor between his positions in Brazos and Williamson counties.
Sheriff Matt Lindemann said the agency takes allegations of misconduct seriously and holds employees to professional standards both on and off duty.
“The conduct described in these allegations does not reflect the values of this office,” Lindemann said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
