A 35-year-old Jarrell man was arrested following a child exploitation investigation in which Williamson County sheriff’s investigators allege he downloaded more than 692 videos and images depicting child sexual abuse.
Raymond Garcia was taken into custody after investigators with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit executed a search warrant Nov. 2 at a residence in the 200 block of Koontz Loop in Jarrell.
According to a news release issued Tuesday, Nov. 3, investigators identified Garcia during an ongoing investigation involving the possession of child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as CSAM.
Detectives subsequently obtained a warrant to search Garcia’s residence. During the search, authorities reported seizing multiple electronic devices, narcotics and firearms.
The sheriff’s office did not specify the types or quantities of drugs recovered, the number or types of firearms seized, or whether additional criminal charges related to those items are anticipated.
“The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office takes crimes involving the exploitation of children extremely seriously,” Sheriff Matthew Lindemann said in a statement. “Through our partnership with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, our detectives remain committed to identifying individuals who exploit children and holding those responsible accountable.”
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force program is a nationwide network of law enforcement agencies that investigates technology-facilitated crimes against children, including the production, distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Garcia remained in custody at the Williamson County Jail as of the sheriff’s office’s Tuesday announcement.
Authorities did not identify the specific criminal charges filed against Garcia or disclose his bond amount.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and that no additional information would be released at this time.
Garcia is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
