Williamson County Sheriff’s Office receives $35,519 grant for swiftwater rescue boat

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has received a $35,519 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to purchase equipment for its Swiftwater Rescue and Dive Recovery Teams.

The funding was used to purchase a Zodiac inflatable rescue boat, motor, trailer and accessories designed to improve the department’s emergency response capabilities during water-related emergencies.

The new equipment will support deputies involved in swiftwater rescues and dive recovery operations, providing additional resources for responding to emergencies in waterways throughout Williamson County.

The sheriff’s office announced the grant Tuesday, Nov. 3, thanking the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Round Rock and donors who contributed to the funding.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation provides grants to public safety organizations for lifesaving equipment, training and other resources intended to improve emergency response capabilities.

The foundation was established in 2005 and has supported fire departments, law enforcement agencies and other first responders across the United States.

The sheriff’s office said the new boat and related equipment will help ensure its rescue teams are better prepared to serve Williamson County residents during emergencies.

The department did not specify where the boat will be stationed or when it will enter service.
