Dairy Queen coming to Leander

According to the Dairy Queen website, a new location is “coming soon” to Highway 183 and Metro Way in Leander, near H-E-B Plus and the light rail station. International Dairy Queen Inc., (IDQ), based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is the parent company of American Dairy Queen Corporation and Dairy Queen Canada, Inc. Through its subsidiaries, IDQ develops, licenses and services a system of more than 7,000 locations in the United States, Canada and more than 20 other countries. IDQ is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., which is led by Warren Buffett, the legendary investor and CEO of Berkshire.

This tells us nothing. Except for vague comments that they’re are coming, but not a date as to when they’re coming.

The news blurb you are commenting on tells you that, according to Dairy Queen’s website, a new location is coming to Leander. It tells you where that location is. We have not obtained any information as to their construction timeline or opening date. Still, the fact that they officially say they are coming is relevant economic development news for Leander. Sometimes a media outlet won’t know every detail you would like to know. Still, they publish what they know to be true and is newsworthy despite not having every detail someone might hope to know. In the case of a construction timeline or opening date, DQ might not be certain of that themselves, as they do not currently publish that information on their website.
