A mixed-use development led by the Austin restaurateur and developer behind brands such as Uchi, Uchiko and Loro is nearing completion in Leander.
Leander Union, a 155,000-square-foot retail, restaurant, office and community gathering destination, is under development at 10860 Crystal Falls Parkway by Topo Development Group, founded by Austin developer and restaurateur Daryl Kunik.
The project will include more than 65,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, approximately 50,000 square feet of office space and outdoor gathering areas designed to serve as a community hub.
Leander Union was designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, the architecture firm known for designing the original Uchi restaurant in Austin.
The development joins a portfolio of projects from Topo Development Group that includes East Austin destinations Canopy and Springdale General.
Among the first announced tenants are Westlake Dermatology and Northpoint Austin Church. The church partnered in the vision for the project and now occupies a new 40,000-square-foot facility on the site.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Sept. 23. Food trucks will be on site to provide visitors with a preview of future dining offerings planned for the development.
The project arrives as Leander continues to experience rapid population growth and increased commercial development, with city leaders and developers working to expand dining, retail and community amenities to serve the growing area.
When complete, Leander Union is expected to become one of the city’s largest mixed-use destinations, combining restaurants, retail, office space and community gathering areas in a single development.
