According to a phone conversation with the owner earlier today, Foodie’s Corner and Weikel’s Bakery will open in two weeks. The location is just north of the entrance to Leander’s Bryson neighborhood.
The store is licensed to make and sell Weikel’s most popular products. All bakery products at this location will be made from scratch on site. Based on the recent update from the owner, even in the worst-case scenario, the bakery will be open in time for locals to put sweet and savory treats from Weikel’s on their Thanksgiving tables.
The store and bakery appear close to complete. Shelves appear stocked, sod and landscaping are nearly finished, and a beer vendor was delivering product when Williamson Reporter shot the photos included in this post. However, the City of Leander still has to complete inspections. Additionally staff training will not be completed until two weeks from now.
Weikel’s Store & Bakery, is a “Texas-famous” convenience store and bakery on State Highway 71 in La Grange. Their claim to fame is “authentic Czech kolaches…, famous for the soft, fluffy dough… made from scratch every day from [a] special family recipe traced back to Czechoslovakia.”
