Williamson County Bids Farewell to Retiring K9 Officer Kato

The Williamson County Commissioners Court honored a true four-legged hero this week as they approved the retirement of K9 Kato from the Sheriff’s Office.

After seven years of dedicated service, Kato leaves behind an impressive record, having assisted in 350 narcotics arrests during his career. Known for his loyalty, sharp instincts, and fearless commitment, Kato played a vital role in keeping the community safe.

At the ceremony, county leaders and law enforcement officials gathered to recognize Kato’s service. Standing proudly beside his handler, Kato received thanks and admiration for his years of work on the front lines.

Now officially retired, Kato will enjoy life as a well-deserved civilian, trading his badge for more peaceful days ahead.

“Thank you for keeping WilCo safe, Kato,” the county shared in their announcement.
