117,000 SF H-E-B and True Texas BBQ restaurant coming to Georgetown’s Wolf Lakes Village

H-E-B plans to replace its current Georgetown store at 1100 S. I-35 with a new 117,000 SF store on University Ave. between I-35 and Wolf Lakes Dr. in the 164-acre Wolf Lakes Village development.

According to a presentation to Georgetown’s city council by H-E-B real estate director Jared O’Brien, the new store will be a “flagship store,” the chain’s largest store north of the Colorado River. The store’s building will feature Mediterranean-style architecture, barrel tile roofs, and brick and stone finishes. O’Brien also said the new Georgetown store will include a critically-acclaimed H-E-B True Texas BBQ restaurant with a drive-thru.

Part of the reason for the new store is that the current Georgetown store is in need os a new refrigeration system. Rather than invest in retrofitting the current store, which O’Brien concedes is not up to the standards H-E-B would like to best serve its customers, it made sense to build a new store. H-E-B does own the land behind its current store, and had originally planned to build a new store behind the current one. However, a number of factors including surrounding developments and TX Dot projects made the original expansion plan on the current H-E-B land tract no longer feasible.
